To Kyle

This past week has been an exciting week for my Kyle. First of all, I didn’t have a chance to write a Happy Birthday post to him last week, so I’ll do it now. Happy Happy late birthday love! Although he will tell you he just turned 26, he’s lying. :) I had a whole birthday weekend planned for him and unfortunately our plans went down the drain. It started before his birthday when Avery managed to get croup. The only thing was we didn’t even know he was sick. We thought he was teething-until he woke up, threw up & was then gasping for air. So after a 4 hour trip to the hospital (in the ambulance nonetheless), we were home & all exhausted. By the next evening I was sick & annoyed. Although they gave Avery some great medicine, he still refused to sleep, and we were all worn out. So I of course woke up on Kyle’s birthday incredibly sick.

He was so sweet and stayed home (his plans were to get out & program at the coffee shop) and took care of the kids all day! Yes, it was a first for him and he did an excellent job! We didn’t get to have birthday breakfast or lunch as planned and I had a babysitter all lined up for that evening so we could go out, and I was still too sick for it. Oh well. Fortunately I managed to get his birthday present to him (thanks Trevor!), and he got a few birthday calls from my family, so it didn’t turn out as well as I could have wanted, but he said he had a good day. Then Saturday we spent the day straightening up the house (I was feeling 100% better) and we had a few friends over for a birthday dinner & banana splits for dessert. We had a great time and were actually able to celebrate his birthday (only a day late).

So, birthday weekend was a bit of a bust, but still fun. We had lots of family time & that was important to Kyle. Then, on Monday Kyle went in and quit his job. Yep, he quit!! No, he’s not going off on his own just yet, he got another job-it seems like its going to be great, so we are all super excited!! (His last day is next Thursday.) I’m so proud of him & looking forward to spending another year with him. What a way to start out a new b-day year…with a new job. (Just to show how awesome my husband is…he interviewed last Tuesday and they called and offered him the job Wednesday morning!!) :)

Well, that’s it. Just a little post dedicated to my sweetie! I love you Kyle!!

(This picture is like 3 years old, but it cracks me up…he’s too cute)

Where to Start?

Ok, I thought the terrible two’s started around age 2, but I guess that’s one thing we’re hitting a bit early. About two weeks ago, Avery decided he wasn’t going to sleep at night anymore. His normal bedtime of 8:30ish just wasn’t going to cut it. So we’ve battled it & he finally crashes. Unfortunately he’s not one of those kids who can cry himself to sleep. We’ve tried, he will cry for over an hour straight-and it irks me so much I get angry. (So, we try not to let it get to that point.) His new thing is that if we don’t come soon enough he gags himself so we come running. Nice, huh? So if anyone has any sure fire ways to fix this problem, PLEASE let us know!! He’s also decided he doesn’t like a lot of the meals that we put in front of him, his toys are no longer satisfactory, and hitting is the new game. Oh my, how could such a sweet little boy be such a terror? :) He still has his super sweet & wonderful side, and loves to give us hugs now-out of nowhere he’ll run up and give us a huge hug, whether its around our leg or if we’re sitting on the floor we’ll get a full hug. It’s absolutely adorable and just melts your heart!

And then our little Maddy…she’s just a doll. She turned 3 months on Saturday and she’s doing so well. She rolled over for the first time just the other day, she smiles all the time & for the most part she sleeps about 6-7 hours a night, its great! :) She is absolutely mesmerized with Avery & Bailey too and its too cute. Avery loves to try & hold her…with our help of course, and a lot of the time she’ll play and coo and talk, she’s completely happy. What a joy it is to have two great kids who are totally different!

Here’s a few pictures from the past few weeks…

That’s all for now. We’re enjoying life with two munchkins and waiting for a full nights sleep to return…soon enough.

My little night owl…

It’s 1:55 (am that is) and my little Maddy refuses to go to sleep. She ate at around 11ish, just like normal, already bathed and snuggly, and yet she is still awake. I’ve tried it all tonight, we’ve walked, we’ve danced, we’ve snuggled and talked, and she’s been swinging for about half an hour now…and she’s still awake! Oh my, if she weren’t mine and soo sweet I think I’d lose my mind. :)

It’s HOT!

Ahh, good ‘ol August weather. Hot, sticky, humid, and overall miserable. The only thing that could push you over the edge is the lack of air conditioning. Oh wait, we’ve got that too! Last weekend, our air suddenly went out & we trudged through the weekend getting out and about and turning all the fans on in the house. By Sunday night we were all super cranky, but Monday morning our hvac people were out & fixed it in a jiffy. Ahh if only that had worked, right? Well, it worked all week, although I kept telling Kyle that the air was really really cold, and the air was running constantly, but again, it’s August and terribly hot so maybe it was warranted.

So back to yesterday. We were bad yesterday & all slept in waay past the alarm, thus no church. But Kyle got up and made us all waffles for brunch, which was a perfect start to our day. And then we got busy doing stuff outside. Ok, let me rephrase, Kyle got busy working outside and Avery & I hopped in the little kiddie pool that Bethany lent us. Avery had a blast splashing & watching Kyle work. And of course he kept pointing at everything outside & squealing. The only bad part was the mosquito’s…I had about 20 bites by the time we got back inside…ugg. So Avery & I go inside to get cleaned up & I noticed it was hot. I check the thermostat, its on, then I check the vents…no air coming out. Check the thermostat again, and turn it down to see if the air will click on….waiting waiting waiting…and nothing. Darn! I waited for about an hour to see if it would click on….and nothing. So, we again turned on all the fans, I stripped the kids down to just their diapers and we stayed as cool as we could. So, here we sit again in the hot house waiting for the hvac people to come back & charge us an outrageous amount to tell us that our a/c isn’t working. Ahh, a Monday! :)

Here’s a few pictures from yesterday’s pool party…

Baby’s 1st Haircut!

Well, my little Maddy had her very first haircut Thursday night. At only 10 weeks old her hair was getting way out of control and she was beginning to get a mullet. So after dinner, Briana helped me trim the back of her hair & her little sideburns. :) Maddy was quite a little trooper and she looks soo much better now! I have a feeling we’ll be trimming her hair quite often since its grown so fast and its really thick. Pretty sure she got all that from her daddy. :)

Here are a few pictures from her first haircut!

Here’s the ‘before’ picture, look how long it is!…

Oh mom, please don’t cut my hair!…

And we’re cutting…

We really couldn’t get an ‘after’ picture because she was soo upset, but trust me it looks much better! :)
